How to Download Pinterest Videos to Your Computer

Save any Pinterest video pin or animated GIF directly to your device in full quality — no watermarks, no sign-ups, and no third-party websites required. Works entirely inside Chrome.

Last updated: March 7, 2026

Pinterest is full of inspiring video content — from recipe tutorials and DIY crafts to fitness routines and travel highlights — but the platform does not offer a built-in download button for videos. Video Downloader Pro adds a one-click download option directly into your browser, letting you save any Pinterest video or GIF pin to your computer without leaving the page. The extension works with Chrome on desktop and handles format detection automatically.

How to Download

1

Install Video Downloader Pro from the Chrome Web Store

Open Chrome and visit the Video Downloader Pro Chrome Web Store page. Click "Add to Chrome," then confirm by clicking "Add extension" in the popup. The extension icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar. Pin it for easy access by clicking the puzzle-piece icon and selecting the pin next to Video Downloader Pro.
Tip:You do not need a Pinterest account to download videos from public pins, but some boards may be private and require you to be logged in.
2

Navigate to the Pinterest pin containing the video

Open Pinterest and find the video pin you want to download. Click on the pin to open it in full view — this is important because the video must be fully loaded in the page for the extension to detect it. You can also paste the pin URL directly into the address bar if you have it. For GIF pins, they appear as looping animations; click on the pin to expand it before downloading.
Tip:The extension works on the Pinterest home feed, individual pin pages, board views, and search results. If the video is not detected, try opening the pin in its own dedicated page.
3

Click the extension icon to detect the video

Once the pin page is loaded and the video is playing, click the Video Downloader Pro icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension panel will open and automatically scan the current page for downloadable media. It will list all detected video streams, including the available quality options. For GIF-based pins, it will detect the underlying video file that Pinterest uses to serve the animated content.
Tip:Let the video play for a second or two before clicking the extension icon — this ensures the video stream is fully loaded and detectable.
4

Select your preferred quality and download

Choose your desired resolution from the quality list. Click the "Download" button next to your chosen quality. The file will be saved to your browser's default download folder as an MP4 file. For GIF pins, the downloaded file will be an MP4 that loops silently, matching how Pinterest displays it.
Tip:Pinterest videos are typically available in 720p. If you need the video as an actual GIF file, you can convert the downloaded MP4 using a free online converter or FFmpeg.
5

Verify the downloaded file

Open your Downloads folder (or press Ctrl+J in Chrome to view recent downloads) and locate the saved MP4 file. Play it in any media player such as VLC, Windows Media Player, or QuickTime. The file will play without watermarks and at the full resolution available. Rename the file to something descriptive before moving it to your media library — Pinterest-generated filenames are not human-readable.
Tip:For bulk downloading, open each pin in a separate tab and trigger the extension in each tab before downloading. This is useful for saving entire boards of video content.
6

Organize your saved Pinterest videos

Create a dedicated folder for your Pinterest downloads to keep them organized by topic or board. Sorting videos by project or category makes them easier to reference later, especially if you are saving recipe tutorials, workout routines, or craft instructions for offline use.
Tip:If you plan to re-share downloaded videos on other platforms, always credit the original Pinterest creator and check whether the content is copyrighted.

Supported Formats

  • MP4
  • GIF (as MP4)

Limitations

  • Pinterest Story Pins with multiple pages are treated as separate videos — each page must be downloaded individually.
  • DRM-protected or premium content from Pinterest partners cannot be downloaded.
  • Private board pins require you to be a logged-in member with access to that board before the video is accessible to the extension.
