Before You Start

  • Google Chrome browser (desktop)
  • An X (Twitter) account
  • X Unfollow Pro installed from the Chrome Web Store
1

Install X Unfollow Pro from the Chrome Web Store

Visit the Chrome Web Store listing and click "Add to Chrome." The extension installs instantly with no account creation or API keys required. You will see a small PlugMonkey icon appear in your Chrome toolbar.
Pro Tip

2

Navigate to your X (Twitter) profile page

Go to x.com and click on your profile picture, then select "Profile." You need to be on your own profile page for the extension to activate. Make sure you are viewing your Following list — click the "Following" count near your bio.

3

Open the X Unfollow Pro management panel

Look for the floating PlugMonkey button on the right side of your screen. Click it to open the management panel. The panel slides in from the right and displays your complete following list with search and filter controls at the top.
Pro Tip

The floating button only appears on your own profile page (or the Following tab). If you do not see it, make sure you are logged in and viewing your own profile.

4

Apply filters to find accounts you want to unfollow

Use the filter controls to narrow down your following list. You can filter by: inactivity (accounts that have not posted in 30, 60, or 90+ days), follower count ranges (to identify bots or ghost accounts), bio keywords (to find irrelevant accounts), and verified status. Combine multiple filters to create a precise selection.
Pro Tip

Start with the inactivity filter set to 90+ days. These are accounts that have been dormant for at least 3 months and are likely safe to unfollow without missing anything.

5

Review the filtered results

After applying filters, the panel updates to show only accounts matching your criteria. Review the list carefully. Each account shows their name, username, bio snippet, follower count, and last activity date. Scroll through the results to confirm these are accounts you want to unfollow.
Important

Always review before unfollowing. While you can re-follow accounts later, Twitter/X may rate-limit follow requests if you try to re-follow many accounts at once.

6

Add important accounts to your whitelist

Before bulk unfollowing, protect any accounts you want to keep. Click the shield icon next to any account to add them to your Protected List. Whitelisted accounts are excluded from all bulk actions, so you will never accidentally unfollow someone important — even if they match your filter criteria.
Pro Tip

Consider whitelisting close friends, business contacts, and industry leaders before running any bulk unfollow action. You can manage your whitelist from the panel settings.

7

Click Bulk Unfollow to remove filtered accounts

Click the "Bulk Unfollow" button at the bottom of the panel. A confirmation dialog appears showing the total number of accounts that will be unfollowed (excluding whitelisted accounts). Confirm to begin the process. X Unfollow Pro processes unfollows with automatic rate-limit-safe pacing to protect your account.
Important

Bulk Unfollow is a PRO feature. Free users can unfollow up to 10 accounts per week using manual one-by-one removal. Upgrade at plugmonkey.xyz/pricing/x-unfollow-pro/ for unlimited bulk operations.
