FAQ
Do PlugMonkey Extensions Work in Incognito Mode?
Quick Answer
Yes — PlugMonkey extensions run in Chrome's Incognito mode, but Chrome disables every extension there by default. Open chrome://extensions, click Details on the extension you want, and toggle on Allow in Incognito. It is a one-time step per extension. After that, the extension behaves the same as in normal mode, with the caveat that Incognito starts every session with no cookies, so you will need to log back into X, Instagram, or Reddit before the extension can interact with those pages.
- Yes — every PlugMonkey extension works in Chrome Incognito after you enable it once at chrome://extensions → Details → Allow in Incognito.
- Chrome disables all extensions in Incognito by default. This is a Chrome security choice, not a PlugMonkey limitation.
- Incognito sessions start with no cookies, so you must log back into the underlying site (X, Instagram, Reddit) before the extension can act on it.
- Chrome Guest mode does NOT allow any extensions. If you need extension access in a private context, use Incognito instead of Guest.

“You can't add extensions when you browse in Incognito mode or as a guest. Allow incognito: On the extension, select Details. Turn on Allow in incognito.”
How to Enable an Extension in Incognito Mode
Follow these steps to allow any PlugMonkey extension in Incognito:
- Open chrome://extensions in your address bar
- Find the PlugMonkey extension you want to enable
- Click Details
- Scroll down and toggle Allow in Incognito to on
- Repeat for each extension you want to use in Incognito
What to Know About Incognito Mode
Incognito mode starts each session with a clean slate — no cookies, no saved logins. This means you will need to log into platforms like X.com, Instagram, or Reddit each time you open an Incognito window before the extension can interact with the page. Your PlugMonkey Pro license key is stored separately and carries over, so you do not need to re-activate.
Extension Data in Incognito
Chrome isolates extension storage in Incognito mode. This means settings, filters, and saved data from your regular browsing session may not be available in Incognito. For example, X Unfollow Pro's whitelist or Reddit Scout Pro's keyword list may not appear. When you close the Incognito window, any actions taken during that session are preserved on the platform (unfollows, exports, etc.) but local extension data from the Incognito session is discarded.
When Incognito Mode is Useful
Most users do not need Incognito mode for PlugMonkey extensions. It is primarily useful when you want to manage a secondary account without logging out of your main account, or when testing extensions in a clean browser environment.
Guest Mode vs Incognito
Chrome Guest mode is different from Incognito. Guest mode does not allow any extensions. If you need extension access, use Incognito mode (not Guest mode) and enable the extension as described above.
