FAQ

Can I Find Who Unfollowed Me on Instagram?

Instagram Unfollow Pro can identify accounts that do not follow you back (non-followers), which is the closest feature to tracking who unfollowed you. Instagram does not provide native unfollow notifications or history, so no tool can show you a timestamped log of exactly when someone unfollowed. However, the non-follower detection feature lets you see your current non-followers at any time.

Non-Follower Detection: How It Works

Instagram Unfollow Pro compares your following list (accounts you follow) against your follower list (accounts that follow you). Any account that appears on your following list but not your follower list is a non-follower — they either never followed you back or unfollowed you at some point. The extension displays these non-followers in a clear list, making it easy to identify one-sided connections.

Why Instagram Doesn't Show Unfollow History

Instagram deliberately does not notify you when someone unfollows your account. This is a design choice to reduce social pressure and conflict on the platform. As a result, there is no API endpoint or interface element that provides an unfollow log. Any app or tool that claims to show you exactly who unfollowed you and when is either using a workaround (periodic snapshots) or making misleading claims. Instagram Unfollow Pro takes the honest approach: it shows you who is not following you right now, not who specifically unfollowed recently.

Tracking Changes Over Time

If you want to know who recently unfollowed you, you can use Instagram Unfollow Pro to take periodic snapshots of your follower status. By comparing your non-follower list from one week to the next, you can identify accounts that newly appear as non-followers — indicating they unfollowed you during that period. This is not automatic, but it is the most reliable method available. You can also use Instagram Followers Exporter Pro to export your full follower list periodically and compare the CSV files to identify who dropped off.
  • Method 1: Non-follower comparison — Run the non-follower scan weekly and note any new non-followers
  • Method 2: Follower list export — Export your followers to CSV weekly and compare the files to find accounts that disappeared
  • Method 3: Manual notes — If specific accounts matter, add them to your whitelist and check their follow status periodically

What to Do with Your Non-Follower List

Once you have identified your non-followers, you have several options.
  • Bulk unfollow non-followers — The most common action. Use Instagram Unfollow Pro's non-follower filter to unfollow accounts that do not follow you back, improving your follower-to-following ratio.
  • Selective cleanup — Review the list and decide case by case. Some non-followers may be brands, celebrities, or informational accounts you want to keep following.
  • Whitelist exceptions — Add accounts you want to keep following (regardless of whether they follow back) to your whitelist before running a bulk unfollow
  • Combine with other filters — Stack the non-follower filter with inactive account detection to find non-followers who are also dormant — the lowest-value connections in your following list. See safe bulk unfollowing for the full process.
