Last updated: March 6, 2026

Twitch clips are short highlight moments from streams, and they're easy to download once you have the right tool. Video Downloader Pro is a Chrome extension that detects the clip video on the page and lets you save it in MP4 format at your chosen quality. Unlike third-party websites, the extension works directly in your browser using your existing session, so there's nothing extra to install or sign up for.

How to Download

1

Navigate to the Twitch clip page

Open your browser and go to the specific Twitch clip you want to download. Clip URLs follow the pattern twitch.tv/[channel]/clip/[clip-id]. Make sure the clip has loaded and is playing before proceeding — the extension needs the video to be active in the page.
Tip:Clips load faster than full VODs. If the clip shows a loading spinner, wait for it to finish before triggering the extension.
2

Open Video Downloader Pro

Click the Video Downloader Pro icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension will scan the page and detect the clip's video stream. You should see the clip listed with its available quality options within a few seconds of opening the popup.
Tip:If the extension shows no results, try refreshing the clip page once and reopening the popup.
3

Choose your quality

Twitch clips are typically available in multiple quality tiers including 480p, 720p, and 1080p (where the original broadcast supports it). Select the quality you need. 720p is a good balance of file size and clarity for most uses; 1080p is ideal if you plan to repost or edit the clip.
4

Download the clip

Click the download button next to your chosen quality. The MP4 file will begin downloading through your browser's standard download flow. You'll find it in your browser's default downloads folder when complete.
Tip:Clip files are usually small — a 60-second clip at 720p is typically under 50 MB.

Supported Formats

  • MP4 (480p)
  • MP4 (720p)
  • MP4 (1080p)

Limitations

  • Full Twitch VODs (past broadcasts) use a different HLS-based stream and may require the HLS download approach rather than the standard clip method.
  • Clips from channels that have been banned or content that has been removed by Twitch will not be accessible.
  • Quality options depend on the original broadcast quality — not all clips have 1080p available.
