8th grade ELA teacher, 5 sections of 28 students each, weekly differentiated lessons required by district
The Challenge
District mandate: every assigned reading must come with 3 versions (below-grade, on-grade, above-grade) plus comprehension questions at each level. Manual differentiation per article: 90-120 min. Teacher was preparing 2-3 articles per week per unit. Total weekly prep: 8-12 hours. Teacher was at burnout.
The Approach
Built 4 Prompt Anything Pro templates for ELA differentiation: 'rewrite this passage for a 5th-grade reader keeping all key concepts', 'rewrite for 8th-grade reading level', 'rewrite for advanced (10th-11th)', 'generate 6 comprehension questions at [level], 2 literal, 2 inferential, 2 critical-thinking'. Ran on any web article inline using BYOK with Claude (best for nuanced ELA work).
The Outcome
Per-article differentiation time: 90-120 min → 12-18 min. Weekly prep time: 8-12 hours → 90 min. Teacher reported the highest job satisfaction in 4 years. Weekly AI cost: ~$1.20 at API pricing. Several colleagues adopted the same templates after seeing the teacher's reduced stress level.
