Write scroll-stopping captions, plan monthly content calendars, script Reels, and optimize your bio — all with AI prompts built for Instagram's algorithm.

12 prompts|Updated March 2026

Instagram rewards consistency, aesthetic coherence, and audience engagement — but creating content daily across captions, Stories, Reels, and carousels is exhausting without a system. These ChatGPT prompts cover every Instagram content format: from writing on-brand captions with built-in engagement hooks, to scripting short Reels that hold attention through the loop, to building 30-day content calendars that balance promotional and value-driven posts. Each prompt includes variables so you can adapt them to any niche, brand voice, or campaign objective.

1

Engaging Instagram Caption with Hashtags

Write an Instagram caption for a post about [topic/product/moment] for a [niche] account with a [casual/professional/inspirational/educational/humorous] tone. The target audience is [describe: age, interests, pain points].

Post context:
- What's in the image/video: [describe the visual]
- Goal of this post: [drive comments / increase saves / promote a product / build community / share a story]
- Brand voice keywords: [e.g., empowering, no-fluff, witty, warm]

Caption structure:
1. **First line (hook)**: A single sentence that stops the scroll — a bold claim, relatable statement, surprising question, or micro-story opening. This appears before "More" on mobile — make it irresistible.
2. **Body (3-6 lines)**: Expand the hook with value, story, or context. Use line breaks (not paragraphs) for mobile readability. Include 1 specific detail that makes this feel personal and authentic.
3. **Engagement CTA**: End with a question or prompt that's easy to answer in 1-2 words (e.g., "Drop a ✋ if this is you" or "What would you add?")
4. **Hashtags (separate block)**: 15-20 hashtags in a separate comment block — mix of: 3 niche-dominant (#[niche]), 5 mid-size (#[topic]-specific, 100K-500K posts), 5 targeted (#[hyper-specific], under 100K), 3 brand or campaign tags

Also include: an alt text description for accessibility (1 sentence, factual).
Post your hashtags in the first comment, not the caption body. It keeps the caption clean and the algorithm treats both placements equally for reach.
2

Instagram Reels Script

Write a complete script for a [15-30 / 30-60 / 60-90] second Instagram Reel about [topic] for a [niche] account. The Reel should achieve [goal: educate / entertain / go viral / promote a product / build trust].

Target audience: [describe viewer — who is watching and what do they care about?]

Structure the script in this format:
**Hook (0-3 seconds)**: One line of text overlay + what the creator says or does on camera. This must stop the scroll. NO "Hey guys, today I'm going to..." openings.

**Body content** (divide into [3-5] rapid segments):
- Segment 1 (seconds 3-15): [topic point or step 1]
- Segment 2 (seconds 15-30): [topic point or step 2]
- Segment 3 (seconds 30-45): [topic point or step 3]

**Loop hook (final 3 seconds)**: End with something that makes the viewer want to rewatch OR tap the profile. Options: a callback to the opening, a cliffhanger detail, or a visual punchline.

For each segment include:
- Spoken dialogue (if any)
- Text overlay suggestion
- Camera angle or action note
- Transition note

Also write: the caption (50-80 words), the audio mood (suggest a genre), and 10 hashtags.
The first 3 seconds of a Reel determine whether Instagram distributes it. If your opening frame wouldn't make someone pause while scrolling at full speed, rewrite it.
3

Instagram Stories Sequence (5-Part)

Write a 5-slide Instagram Stories sequence for [goal: promoting a product / sharing a personal story / running a poll / driving link clicks / building authority on a topic].

Topic or campaign: [describe what this Stories sequence is about]
Target audience: [describe]
Desired outcome: [what should the viewer do or feel after the last slide?]

For each slide, specify:
- **Slide type**: [text / image + text / poll / question sticker / countdown / video / DM CTA]
- **Headline text** (max 7 words — must be readable in 3 seconds on mobile)
- **Body text** (if any — max 2 lines)
- **Visual description**: What background, image, or graphic style?
- **Interactive element**: Poll options, question prompt, or link sticker URL/text
- **Transition note**: How does this slide set up the next one? (create a mini-cliffhanger between each slide)

Slide 1: Hook — create immediate curiosity or FOMO
Slide 2: Context or problem setup
Slide 3: The payoff, insight, or product showcase
Slide 4: Social proof, testimonial, or behind-the-scenes
Slide 5: Clear CTA — what to do RIGHT NOW (DM, swipe up, poll vote, save)

Include a suggested color palette and font style consistent with a [minimalist/bold/playful/editorial] aesthetic.
70% of Instagram Stories are watched with sound off. Every text element must carry the full meaning independently. Don't rely on narration to explain what's on screen.
4

30-Day Instagram Content Calendar

Build a 30-day Instagram content calendar for a [niche] account. The account [is launching a product / growing an audience / promoting services / building a personal brand] with a posting frequency of [5-7 / 3-4 / daily] posts per week.

Brand context:
- Niche: [e.g., sustainable fashion, B2B SaaS, fitness coaching, food photography]
- Audience: [describe]
- Current content mix: [what types of posts have worked before, if known]
- Upcoming campaigns or dates: [product launches, holidays, events in the next 30 days]

For each post, provide:
- Day and date
- Content format: [Feed post / Carousel / Reel / Story / Collaborative post]
- Post concept (2-3 sentences): What's the visual? What's the angle?
- Caption angle (1 sentence): What tone and hook approach?
- Primary goal: [reach / engagement / saves / link clicks / DMs]

Content mix requirements:
- 30% educational/value content
- 25% entertainment or personality content
- 20% promotional/product content
- 15% community/UGC/social proof content
- 10% trending/reactive content

Flag 4-5 posts in the calendar that have the highest viral potential and explain why.
Build this calendar two weeks ahead of time. Reactive content (trends, news) should fill the gaps — but having 80% of your content pre-planned prevents the panic-posting that kills consistency.
5

Instagram Bio Optimization

Rewrite my Instagram bio to maximize profile visits converting to follows and link clicks. Current bio:

[paste current bio here]

Account context:
- What I create/offer: [products, services, content type]
- Target audience: [who should follow this account]
- Primary CTA goal: [get followers to click the link / DM me / shop / sign up]
- Brand personality: [3 words that describe the account's tone]
- Unique differentiator: [what makes this account different from similar accounts in the niche]

Rewrite guidelines:
1. **Line 1** (most important): What you do + who it's for — in 8 words or less. Use a power verb.
2. **Line 2**: The specific value or transformation you provide. Quantify if possible.
3. **Line 3**: Social proof, credentials, or a reason to trust (e.g., "10K+ students" / "Featured in Forbes" / "5-star seller")
4. **Line 4**: CTA — direct the reader to the link. Be specific about what's behind the link.
5. **Emoji usage**: Use 1 emoji per line maximum — functional (pointing, arrow) not decorative.

Generate 3 bio variations and rate each on: clarity, credibility, and CTA strength.
Test bio variations monthly. Change one element at a time (line 1, then the CTA) and track follow-to-profile-visit ratio in Instagram Insights for 2 weeks per version.
6

Hashtag Strategy by Niche

Build a strategic hashtag library for an Instagram account in the [niche] niche. The account has approximately [X] followers and [average engagement rate]% engagement.

Goals for this hashtag strategy:
- [Reach new followers in [target audience demographic]]
- [Rank in hashtag feeds for [key terms]]
- [Build community around [brand or movement]]

Organize the hashtag library into 4 groups, with 15-20 tags per group:

**Group 1 — Brand & community tags**: Original hashtags this account should own (and encourage followers to use). Include the brand name, a campaign tag, and a community tag.

**Group 2 — Niche authority tags** (50K–500K posts): Specific to [niche], moderate competition, achievable ranking. List 15.

**Group 3 — Discovery tags** (500K–2M posts): Broader audience reach for this content type. List 10.

**Group 4 — Trending/seasonal tags**: 5 current trending tags in [niche] that are active right now (flag these for verification — trends change fast).

For each group, write a usage note: which post types this group works best for, and how many tags from each group to include per post.

Also recommend a testing protocol: how to determine which tags are actually driving reach (vs. just impressions).
Rotate through 3-4 different hashtag sets rather than using the same set on every post. Instagram may reduce distribution if it detects repetitive hashtag patterns.
7

Carousel Post Script (Educational)

Write the slide-by-slide script for an educational Instagram carousel post about [topic]. The carousel should be [8-12 slides] long and designed to drive saves and shares.

Topic: [specific topic — the narrower, the better]
Audience: [who is reading this? What do they know and not know about this topic?]
Takeaway: After reading, the viewer should be able to [specific action or insight]

Slide structure:
- **Slide 1 (Cover)**: A bold title that promises a clear outcome. Format: "[Number] [thing] to [achieve outcome]" or "The [topic] guide for [audience]". Include a visual direction.
- **Slides 2-10 (Body)**: One point per slide. For each slide:
  - Headline (max 6 words)
  - Explanatory text (max 40 words)
  - Visual suggestion (icon, chart, example image, or illustration)
  - Micro-example or stat that makes the point concrete
- **Slide 11 (Recap)**: A summary of all points in a clean list format — this is the "save-worthy" slide
- **Slide 12 (CTA)**: A call to action. Specify: follow for more, DM for [resource], save this post, or comment [keyword] for a link

Also write: the caption (150-200 words with a hook and engagement question) and a cover image direction for the feed grid.
The most-saved carousels have a 'cheat sheet' or 'summary' slide. That final summary slide alone should be worth saving — it compresses the entire post's value into one screen.
8

Influencer Collaboration Pitch DM

Write an Instagram DM to pitch a collaboration to [influencer/creator name], who has [X followers] in the [niche] niche. I represent [my brand/account name] in the [my niche] niche with [X followers / audience description].

Collaboration type: [gifted product review / paid partnership / co-created content / Instagram Live / account takeover / giveaway collab]

What I'm offering: [describe the deal — product, payment, affiliate structure, or mutual promotion]

The DM should:
1. Open by referencing something specific about their recent content (name a post, Reel, or series — leave a placeholder for me to fill in)
2. Introduce my brand in 2 sentences — positioning without bragging
3. Pitch the collaboration in 3 sentences: what it is, what's in it for them, and why our audiences align
4. Include one piece of social proof (follower count, past brand partner, engagement rate — whichever is strongest)
5. End with a soft, low-friction ask: "Would you be open to hearing more?" or "Happy to send a media kit if it sounds interesting"

Keep the entire DM under 150 words. No walls of text — they get dozens of pitches daily. Concise and confident beats exhaustive.
Send the DM from the brand account, not a personal account — it looks more credible. Follow the creator and engage with 2-3 posts before sending to warm up the connection.
9

Product Launch Instagram Campaign

Plan a 7-day Instagram campaign for the launch of [product name], a [brief product description] priced at $[price]. The target customer is [describe]. The launch date is [date].

Campaign goal: [pre-launch waitlist signups / day-1 sales / brand awareness / email list growth]

Build a day-by-day content plan:

**Day 1 (Teaser)**: Create intrigue without revealing the product. What's the pain point this solves? Write the post concept + caption hook.

**Day 2 (Behind the scenes)**: Show the making of, the team, or the process. Write the post concept + caption.

**Day 3 (Problem agitation)**: A post focused entirely on the problem your audience has. No product mention. Write the post concept + caption.

**Day 4 (Reveal — launch day)**: The full product reveal post. Write the caption (200-250 words, full launch energy, strong CTA).

**Day 5 (Social proof / testimonial)**: Early adopter review, beta tester quote, or founder story. Write the post concept + caption.

**Day 6 (FAQ or objection handler)**: Address the top 3 objections or questions about the product in a carousel or Stories sequence. Outline the structure.

**Day 7 (Last chance / urgency)**: Closing the launch window or limited availability. Write the caption with urgency (real scarcity only — no false countdowns).

For each day, specify: format (feed/carousel/Reel/Stories), posting time, and Stories additions.
Layer your Stories strategy on top of this plan. Feed posts announce; Stories build FOMO and intimacy. Your most engaged followers live in Stories — that's where launch energy peaks.
10

Comment Response Templates

Generate 15 comment response templates for an Instagram account in the [niche] niche. These should help me respond to comments quickly without sounding robotic or copy-paste.

Organize the templates into 5 categories:

**Category 1 — General positive comments** (3 templates): When someone says "Love this!" or "Amazing post!"
**Category 2 — Questions about products/services** (3 templates): When someone asks "Where can I get this?" or "How much does it cost?"
**Category 3 — Personal connection comments** (3 templates): When someone shares their own story or experience related to the post
**Category 4 — Negative or critical comments** (3 templates): When someone disagrees, criticizes the product, or posts a complaint — respond with calm professionalism, not defensiveness
**Category 5 — Spam or irrelevant comments** (3 templates): Polite ways to redirect or ignore spam without engaging

For each template:
- Write the response text (1-3 sentences max)
- Note whether to add an emoji, and which one
- Note whether to ask a follow-up question (to increase comment depth, which helps the algorithm)

Brand voice: [casual / professional / warm / witty]. Avoid these words: "absolutely," "of course," "amazing."
Reply to comments within the first hour of posting. Instagram's algorithm gives significantly higher reach to posts that generate fast comment-reply exchanges — treat the first 60 minutes as your engagement window.
11

Instagram Bio Link Page Copy

Write the copy for a link-in-bio landing page for a [niche] Instagram account with [X followers]. The page needs to route traffic to multiple destinations.

Account: [account name / brand name]
Tagline: [one-line value proposition — max 10 words]

Destinations to include (list all that apply):
1. [Link 1 destination: e.g., new YouTube video — "Watch my latest video"]
2. [Link 2 destination: e.g., shop — "Shop the collection"]
3. [Link 3 destination: e.g., free download — "Get the free [resource name]"]
4. [Link 4 destination: e.g., newsletter — "Join [X] readers every week"]
5. [Link 5 destination: e.g., booking — "Book a call"]

For each link button:
- Write the button label (max 5 words, action-oriented verb first)
- Write a 1-line subtitle that appears below the button (why should they click THIS one first?)
- Suggest an emoji or icon that makes the button scannable

Also write:
- A profile description for the link page (2 sentences — different from the Instagram bio)
- A priority order recommendation: which link to list first, and why (based on the account goal)

Tool note: format this for [Linktree / Beacons / Later Link Page / custom landing page].
Limit your link page to 5 links maximum. Every additional link reduces the click-through rate on all links. If you have more than 5 destinations, consolidate or rotate seasonally.
