FAQ
Does Prompt Anything Pro Store My Data?
No, Prompt Anything Pro does not store your data on PlugMonkey servers. Your API keys are saved locally in your browser's extension storage. Your prompts and AI responses are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) — PlugMonkey never sees, processes, or logs them. Here is a complete breakdown of how data flows through the extension.

How Data Flows in Prompt Anything Pro
Understanding the data flow helps explain why Prompt Anything Pro is privacy-friendly by design. When you send a prompt, the following happens.
- Step 1 — You type a prompt (or use a template) in the extension overlay
- Step 2 — The extension packages the prompt and sends it directly to the AI provider's API endpoint (e.g., api.openai.com or api.anthropic.com)
- Step 3 — The AI provider processes the prompt and returns a response
- Step 4 — The extension displays the response in the overlay
- At no point does PlugMonkey's server see or handle your prompt, response, or API key. The extension connects your browser directly to the AI provider.
What Is Stored Locally (In Your Browser)
The extension does store some data locally in Chrome's extension storage on your machine. This data never leaves your device.
- API keys — Your OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google API keys are saved in Chrome's encrypted local storage so you do not have to re-enter them every time
- Prompt templates — Custom templates you create are saved locally for reuse
- Settings and preferences — Your model preferences, keyboard shortcuts, and display settings
- Conversation history (optional) — If you enable conversation history, recent prompts and responses are cached locally for quick reference. This can be disabled or cleared at any time.
- Usage statistics — Minimal anonymous usage analytics (feature usage counts, not content) to help improve the extension. This can be disabled in settings.
What PlugMonkey Servers See
PlugMonkey operates servers for license validation only. When you open the extension, it checks your license status (free tier, Pro monthly, Pro yearly, or Pro lifetime) with our server. This request contains your license key and extension version — nothing about your prompts, responses, API keys, or browsing activity. We do not operate any proxy server between your browser and the AI providers. We do not log API requests. We have no technical ability to see your prompts or responses because they never pass through our infrastructure.
AI Provider Data Policies
While PlugMonkey does not store your data, the AI providers you connect to have their own data policies. When you use your API key to send prompts, the AI provider receives and processes your data according to their terms.
- OpenAI API — OpenAI states that data sent via the API is not used to train models (as of March 2023). API data is retained for 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
- Anthropic API — Anthropic does not use API inputs/outputs for model training. Data may be retained temporarily for safety monitoring.
- Google AI API — Google's AI Studio API data policies vary by product. Check their current terms for your specific use case.
- Key takeaway — API usage has significantly better privacy terms than using the free consumer chatbot versions of these services, which may use your data for training.
