FAQ
Does Instagram Followers Exporter Work with Private Profiles?
Instagram Followers Exporter Pro can export follower data from private profiles that you are approved to follow. If you can see an account's follower list in the Instagram interface, the extension can export it. For private accounts you do not follow, the follower list is hidden by Instagram and cannot be accessed by any browser-based tool.

The Rule: If You Can See It, You Can Export It
Instagram Followers Exporter Pro works by reading data that Instagram displays in your browser. The extension has exactly the same access as you do when you are logged into Instagram. This means the extension's capabilities with private profiles mirror what you can manually see and do on Instagram.
- Your own private account — You can always export your own follower list, regardless of whether your account is public or private
- Private accounts you follow — If you have been approved as a follower of a private account, you can see and export their follower list
- Private accounts you do NOT follow — Their follower list is hidden. The extension cannot access it. You would need to send a follow request, get approved, and then export.
- Public accounts — All follower data is accessible regardless of your relationship to the account
Exporting Your Own Private Account's Followers
If your account is set to private, you can export your own follower list without any restrictions. Navigate to your Instagram profile, click the extension, and start the export. The process is identical to exporting a public account's followers. Your privacy setting only affects what other people can see — you always have full access to your own data.
Data Availability from Private Profiles
When exporting followers of a private account you follow, the same data fields are available as with public accounts. However, some of the followers of that private account may themselves be private, which can affect what profile data is visible for those individual follower accounts.
- Username and display name — Always visible for all follower accounts, public or private
- Bio — Visible for both public and private follower accounts (bios are always public on Instagram)
- Follower and following counts — Visible for all accounts
- Post count — Visible for all accounts
- Verified status — Always visible
- Profile picture — Always visible (Instagram shows profile pictures even for private accounts)
- External website — Visible when set, for both public and private accounts
Ethical Considerations
When someone sets their account to private, they have made a deliberate choice to limit who can see their content and connections. While you can technically export follower data from private accounts you follow, we recommend respecting the intent behind someone's privacy settings. Use exported data responsibly — for your own analysis and audience understanding, not for unsolicited outreach or sharing the data publicly.
