What Are the Built-In Preset Prompt Templates in Prompt Anything Pro?
Prompt Anything Pro ships with over 40 built-in preset prompt templates organised across more than 15 task categories. Presets work immediately after installation — select any text on a webpage, open the overlay, and choose a preset to run it in one click. The {selectedText} variable is automatically filled with whatever text you had selected, so there is no manual copying and pasting. Presets are the fastest way to get value from the extension without needing to write a single prompt from scratch.

How Preset Templates Work
- Select text — Highlight any text on any webpage: an article paragraph, a code block, an email, a product description
- Open the overlay — Right-click and choose Prompt Anything Pro, click the extension icon, or use your keyboard shortcut (default: Alt+P)
- Choose a preset — Browse categories or type to search. Click the preset name to load it.
- {selectedText} auto-fills — The preset prompt populates in the prompt box with your selected text already inserted
- Run immediately — Click Send or press Enter. No further editing required unless you want to customise.
- Results appear in the overlay in seconds. You can copy, continue the conversation, or switch to a different model and re-run.

Presets vs Custom Templates — What Is the Difference?
- Presets — Built-in, curated, immediately available. Best for general tasks like summarising, translating, and explaining. Updated by PlugMonkey when new high-value prompts are identified. Available on both free and Pro tiers (up to 5 custom templates on free; unlimited on Pro).
- Custom templates — Written by you, stored locally. Best for repeatable, task-specific workflows: your own content review rubric, your agency's brand voice guidelines, your code review checklist. Support advanced variable types including dropdowns and auto-fill from selection.
- Key distinction — Presets cannot be edited (to protect their quality), but you can duplicate any preset into your custom template library and then modify it. This is the recommended starting point for building custom templates.
- Availability — All built-in presets are available to both free and Pro users. Free users also get up to 5 custom template slots; Pro users get unlimited custom templates.
The {selectedText} Variable — How Auto-Fill Works
- Auto-selection on invoke — When you open Prompt Anything Pro via right-click or keyboard shortcut, any text you had highlighted at that moment is captured and stored as the {selectedText} value
- Works on any content type — The variable captures whatever is selected: a paragraph of prose, a block of code, a table cell, a tweet, a legal clause, a recipe
- No limit on length — You can select text of any length, from a single word to a full article (subject to the model's context window limit)
- Override manually — After the preset loads, you can edit the {selectedText} content directly in the prompt box before sending. This lets you fix selection artifacts like stray whitespace or partial sentences.
- Used in context — If you invoke the extension without selecting text, {selectedText} will be blank. Some presets work well without pre-selected text (such as brainstorming or generation templates); others require it.
